What's new in this release

This release of NexEDA™ is an upgrade release with a focus on extending our operating system and development environment support, our SEMI® standard support, as well as general improvements.

SEMI Standard support

Our products continue to adopt new versions of the SEMI standards, enabling our customers to be compliant as the standards are approved. In this release of NexEDA, we now support the 0416 version of the E30 Generic Model of Communication and Control of Manufacturing Equipment (GEM) standard.

Technology support

Our products continue to adopt new technologies, enabling our customers to take advantage of new computing platforms as they become available. NexEDA now supports the Microsoft® Windows® 10 LTSB 2016 operating system.

NexEDA has also added Visual Studio® 2013 and Visual Studio® 2015 to its list of supported development environments and sample solutions, as well as support for .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1, and 4.6.

General improvements

We resolved several customer-logged issues and requests for NexEDA.

Version compatibility 

NexEDA 2.2 is fully compatible with equipment control solutions developed with NexEDA 2.1. Tool Models from versions of NexEDA prior to 2.1 must be upgraded using Model Builder. Note that any tool models that have a custom CarrierID attribute under the MaterialManager node will not be automatically upgraded by Model Builder.

What's new in this release

This release of NexEDA™ is an upgrade release with a focus on expanding NexEDA’s recipe management capabilities, adding support for formatted and large unformatted recipes.

SEMI standards

We have continued to upgrade NexEDA SEMI standards support, and NexEDA now supports E40.1-0813 mapping of RecID to RECPSPEC or PPID.

SEMI E109 support has been expanded, adding a new alarm to signal the host when reticle destinations are not available and supporting the E109 Slot Map Verification enumeration.

Technology support

Our products continue to adopt new computing technologies, enabling our customers to take advantage of new computing platforms as they become available.

NexEDA has added Visual Studio 2012 to its list of supported development environments and sample solutions.

Support for older technologies has ended and consequently, NexEDA no longer supports the Microsoft Windows® XP operating system, Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005 development tool, or .NET Framework 2.0.

What's new in this release

NexEDA™ fully complies with the latest 300mm and Interface A / EDA SEMI standards. The Equipment Data Acquisition (Interface A / EDA) set of standards, frozen by ISMI in July 2010, known as EDA 0710 is now integrated into NexEDA. Additionally, because NexEDA leverages PEER Group's EIB™ EDA (Equipment Information Bridge) technology, it sets a benchmark for quality and performance.

EDA 0710 – Equipment Data Acquisition (Interface A)

As manufacturing complexity increases, data collection and analysis is becoming more important. A data collection strategy that allows for high-rate data collection can be achieved using Interface A (EDA). Large data volumes and targeted data collection cannot be supported via traditional SECS/GEM communications.

PEER Group’s Interface A solution has been used successfully by a growing list of factories and OEMs since 2005. With version 0710, the industry has driven changes that let OEMs reduce the effort to add Interface A onto any equipment and make it easier for factories to incorporate it into any factory system and improve their data collection strategies.

Supporting multiple EDA standards

NexEDA provides flexible deployment models, enabling the addition of EDA and support for multiple versions of EDA (1105, 0710) through configuration. OEMs can quickly configure Interface A to meet factory-specific requirements.

Adding Interface A to any tool

OEMs can quickly add EDA to any tool, regardless of the existing host communications implementation. OEMs can also build a full connectivity solution with NexEDA offering GEM 300 and Interface A communications.

Managing EDA metadata

Metadata describes how the equipment information is represented to the host. It captures the logical structure of the equipment modules and the information associated with those modules. NexEDA simplifies the creation and sharing of the metadata between the OEM and the factory for offline data collection configuration. With PEER Group’s active involvement in the initiative to create a new standard for the existing metadata guidance, the flexibility needed for equipment modeling is built into NexEDA.

Testing Interface A

To ensure your Interface A configuration and deployment meets your needs, verification is key. With PEER Group’s EDA Pro Client application, you can verify host-equipment message interaction during development. In this latest NexEDA release, the EDA Pro Client has been upgraded to support both the 1105 and 0710 EDA standards and has expanded its tools for data collection plan creation and management as well as metadata management to reduce overall troubleshooting effort.

What's new in this release

This 1.9 release of NexEDA™ supports the newest SEMI standards demanded by manufacturers in the semiconductor, LED, solar, and MEMS industries.

SEMI E109 – Specification for Reticle and Pod Management (RPMS) 

The E109 standard is used by lithography, reticle inspection and bare reticle stocker equipment to define reticle and reticle pod transfers to and from the equipment as well as reticle movement within the equipment.

The implementation of E109 can vary from full E109 support to using E109 to transfer reticles on the front end while using traditional 300mm E94 and E40 commands for reticle movement and processing within the tool.

SEMI E148 – Specification for Time Synchronization and Definition of the TS-Clock Object 

The E148 standard is used to synchronize equipment computer clocks within a factory where the equipment provides time-sensitive data that requires date and time accuracy across multiple factory components. The time resolution and time server source requirements will vary across equipment makers and factories, making it important for connectivity solutions to support customers integrating their preferred time server solution to meet their time synchronization needs.

SEMI E157 – Specification for Module Process Tracking 

The E157 standard reports process-related data during the execution of a recipe at a processing location, which provides important context data to support applications that optimize yields and improve overall factory performance.

SEMI PV2 – Guide for PV Equipment Communication Interfaces (PVECI) 

The PV2 standard is based on E30 (GEM), providing a proven equipment automation standard refined for photovoltaic manufacturing.

Development environment support 

NexEDA is continuing to stay current with development environments and has added Visual Studio® 2010 to its list of supported environments and sample solutions.

What's new in this release

This release of NexEDA™ is an upgrade release with a focus on expanding operating system support, reducing the time and effort required to build and deploy equipment models, improving installation and licensing, and enhancing the product based on customer requests and defect fixes.

Operating system support

NexEDA now supports Windows® 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows® Server 2008 (SP2 and R2), in addition to Windows XP SP3.

Integration improvements 

Creating reusable and extendable tool models for Interface A (EDA) capabilities has never been faster with enhancements that include:

  • Provides Data on Demand by allowing simultaneous equipment connections by manufacturing applications.
  • Model Builder’s new drag-and-drop user-interface which includes integrated online help.
  • Model creation wizards tailor tool models to deployment needs.
  • Integrated automation tools to build tool models directly by querying configuration from the equipment.
  • Importing capabilities that leverage your existing tool configurations in PEER FACTORY® Acceptance Tester (PFAT™) and GWGEM®, creating your equipment model automatically.
  • Model Builder’s new override capability reduces model management and deployment effort.
  • Enhanced model validation eliminates encountering configuration errors at run time.
