What's new in this release

Enhanced Linux OS support

To better support the different Linux OS options, we have streamlined the Remicus Agent installation and configuration.

  • Remicus now provides an enhanced installation script to simplify initial setup and to ensure files are installed to default known locations.
  • A new command line interface provides a more convenient option for updating the Agent configuration in environments without a Windows manager.

Improved remote session connection diagnostics

To establish a remote session, Remicus builds a secure communication tunnel between the client machine and the remote Remicus Agent. Users can now get detailed progress information while establishing the secure connection with the option to send a log package to the Remicus support team automatically if the connection fails to start.

A new connection diagnostic tool is available for users to assess and verify the Remicus tunnel connectivity between the agent and client machine before launching remote sessions.

General improvements

We have resolved several customer-logged issues and requests.

Secure email delivery

Our new email relay service can deliver multiple, concurrent outbound email messages securely. Configure the Remicus Agent to route outgoing mail from your email client through the Remicus email service. When enabled, you can also route Remicus log packages to our support team for quick analysis and troubleshooting.

Flexible upgrades

Remicus now gives you the flexibility to upgrade a Remicus Agent remotely over a Remicus RDP session so you do not have to be physically present at the machine. We have also relaxed the previous requirements that verified all shared folders were present before the Remicus Agent could start, to ensure a successful upgrade process and continued availability of the Remicus Agent.

General improvements

We have resolved several customer-logged issues and requests.

Streamlined Remicus Agent installation and configuration

To create a better user experience, we have streamlined Remicus Agent installation and configuration.

  • We have added configuration for automatic download and installation of new versions of the Remicus Agent when they become available.
  • If an existing configuration is detected when updating the agent software, you now have the option to use that configuration and bypass the full configuration process.

Improvements to large file transfers

To better control data throughput, reduce memory consumption, and improve overall robustness and performance, we improved the Remicus file transfer design.

Increased visibility into target status

For OEMs who wish to monitor the performance of their deployed equipment in real time, Remicus now detects and reports more details about potential agent communication issues. The Remicus Portal includes a new “Faulted” target state to complement the previous Online, Offline, and Unknown states. When a target appears in the Faulted state, it might be experiencing temporary communication issues or degraded performance.

Secure, flexible transfer of data

To improve diagnostic capabilities, remote access to operational data and execution logs is a necessity. Making data available to analytics engines at the equipment’s edge or in the cloud increases opportunities for developing new features and obtaining higher operational efficiency, equipment utilization, and quality.

Remicus™ file transfer workflow now provides expanded capabilities for configuring scheduled file transfers to deliver a more flexible and efficient exchange of logs and operational data:

  • Pre- and post-transfer actions allow for flexible transformation of data before and after the transfer executes, with the option to transfer only new or updated data.
  • An additional level of security safeguards unattended file transfers, granting the ability to review data transformations and approve or reject “in progress” data transfers prior to transferring the files to the destination target.

General improvements

We resolved several customer-logged issues and requests.

Flexible remote access

Having access to the appropriate tools during remote troubleshooting and diagnostics can significantly reduce the time it takes to resolve an issue, resulting in increased effectiveness of your support personnel.

Remicus™ provides plug-in based support for remote session connections through its secure encrypted tunnel. In this release, Remicus has extended its plug-in support to include the following protocols: Microsoft Remote Assistance and Microsoft Remote App.

  • The Microsoft Remote Assistance protocol allows the remote user to collaborate with the local user by allowing the remote user partial control (shared desktop, mouse and keyboard) during troubleshooting and diagnostic sessions.
  • The Microsoft Remote App protocol allows remote users to run selected application as if they are running on their local computer.

Secure, scalable transfer of data

Remicus provides secure file transfers to a wide variety of equipment types and server platforms. As the data produced by connected equipment is increasing, the need to make this information available remotely has also increased.

This release of Remicus further enhances the ability to schedule, pause, and resume file transfer operations. Scalability and performance during peak data transfer operation functionality was also augmented to ensure a robust solution that meets with the increasing demands of big data applications.

What's new in this release

Enabling best-in-class remote support

Remicus™ provides a single access point to all of an OEM’s deployed equipment, enabling remote monitoring and support for all tools regardless of field location in both fab or lab environments. This gives you the ability to support your entire fleet of tools easily and cost-effectively, from OEM headquarters or anywhere in the world.

At its core, Remicus simplifies the information exchange between the fab and OEM while ensuring safeguards are in place for IP protection and network security. From a single web portal, you can upload and download files easily and navigate to the available files on any tool to obtain relevant information about your equipment. You can use remote session access to manipulate equipment directly for troubleshooting and diagnostic work. Remicus provides plug-in support for different types of remote session technology depending on the applications already installed on your equipment. Remote access to equipment information lets you monitor tool health easily, troubleshoot equipment problems, and resolve issues.

With Remicus, you can scale your support cost-effectively while reducing issue resolution time and maximizing equipment uptime, allowing you to provide best-in-class service to your fab customers.

Ensuring complete IP protection

Remicus’ secure point-to-point communication tunnel protects both fab information and equipment-maker IP, eliminating the risk of IP leak exposure within and outside of the fab. It limits communications to a specific tool within the fab network and a remote user ensuring that the information passed within the secure communications tunnel can only be accessed by the authorized OEM.

In addition, fabs control the level of access they grant to each of the Remicus-connected tools. Fabs can enable remote control, file viewing, upload, download, access to specific directories on the equipment, access to specific file types, and can determine whether scheduled file transfers can occur. The simple setup lets you and the fab address evolving support service needs.

Simplifying user management

Remicus integrates with your corporate identity provider, simplifying user management as well as enabling secure access to the Remicus web portal. Users are authenticated in their corporate network so user credentials are never disclosed and your corporate password policies are enforced. The result: easy user on-boarding and secure connectivity.

Remicus administration focuses on low overhead, enabling easy and effective user management. Access control uses a notification-based design to support submitting requests and having them granted all through the Remicus web portal. Administrators can receive access request notifications easily, grant remote support privileges to your support personnel, and track user actions, giving them full control over access and auditing of the remote activity on each of your tools.

Once logged into your corporate network, authorized users can spend their valuable time on support instead of trying to coordinate remote access. Support personnel will have quick and easy access to equipment information when they need it, accelerating their ability to support remote tools.
