SEMI E173: Specification for XML SECS-II Message Notation (SMN)
The SEMI E5 SECS-II messages exchanged between the factory host and equipment are transmitted in a binary format, which is difficult for people to read and understand. This standard describes a consistent way to document and log SECS-II message content using XML notation, including:
- How the structure and content of SECS-II messages should be organized.
- What protocol-specific information needs to be captured, in addition to the SECS-II message content.
- What is required for documentation vs. what should be captured in log files.
- What data is helpful for diagnostic purposes, but is not required for compliance.
A number of our products support SEMI E173.
