SEMI E188: Specification for Malware Free Equipment Integration
This specification defines a framework to mitigate malware propagation into and within manufacturing facilities during capital equipment installation and support activities. It defines requirements and processes to ensure the integrity of the manufacturing equipment by specifying malware scanning and computer system hardening while also identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and controlling access to computing devices.
This specification applies to computing devices such as computers, controllers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), etc. Computing systems such as manufacturing executing systems (MES), material control systems (MCS), or host systems provided by the factory are excluded from this specification.
Because this SEMI Standard relates to the entire tool or AMHS system, compliancy is the responsibility of the equipment manufacturer. Deploying modern software with PEER Group’s suite of SEMI-compliant OEM automation and connectivity products as part of the tool’s software stack allows for the expedited adoption of an overall cybersecurity software strategy.
