Accountant

One position based in Dresden, Germany (Hybrid)

Reporting to the Managing Director, this opportunity is for a hands-on Accounting Professional who is proactive at improving the services of the accounting function, curious about finding answers through effective analysis, and motivated to make a positive contribution to a growing company in an industry poised for expansion.

Key responsibilities:
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with HGB and German Accounting Principles.
  • Provide subject-matter mentoring and/or training for global team members if/as needed.
  • Plan, implement and administer accounting systems; prepare financial information for individuals, departments, businesses, and other establishments.
  • Oversee and facilitate preparation of ongoing business forecasting and budget processes.
  • Analyze financial statements and accounts explain variances across periods and forecasts; deliver insightful reports to senior leadership to provide financial and business advice.
  • Daily transactions to support – AR, AP, Bank and Treasury transactions.
  • Verify accuracy of computations and uniform application of policies, internal controls, procedures, and acceptable accounting principles.
  • Perform journal entries and other accounting activities using existing procedures; recommend and implement improvements to align with best practices.
  • Complete month-end financial reports and year-end working papers.
  • Complete filing monthly government returns and reconciling accounts.
  • Complete the account reconciliation process.
  • Payroll processing and execution with external payroll provider; payroll insurance and pension calculations and reporting.
  • Annual financial audit – preparation, facilitation with external auditors, review and implementation of final reports.
  • Facilitate annual insurance renewals.
  • Complete other duties or special projects as required.
Skills and experience:
  • University degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Recognized accounting designation.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience in a progressive capacity, with all daily transaction types.
  • Prepared and Analyzed Financial Statements – HGB and German accounting principles.
  • Facilitate and complete the annual planning and forecasting process.
  • Planning and administration of accounting systems, in alignment with global system.
  • Payroll preparation and execution.
  • Audit preparation and facilitation with external auditors.
  • Financial system implementation and modernization of accounting processes.
  • Completed financial reporting and periodic detailed financial variance analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting best practices and subject matter expert in HGB.
  • Advanced computer and MS Excel skills including experience with PIVOTS, LOOKUPS, macros, conditional formatting, and manipulation of large data sets.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems required; experience with MS Dynamics 365 and Management Reporter is an asset.
  • Ethical conduct and professional values.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
