Equipment Automation Framework (EAF)

Complete fab-wide automation, communications, and data acquisition

Advanced automation framework providing rapid equipment connectivity and integration for seamless fab communications and data collection.

Industry-proven, SEMI Standards-compliant factory automation

Equipment Automation Framework (EAF) is an industry-proven, flexible, scalable, and SEMI® Standards-compliant automation framework that enables manufacturers to rapidly connect and integrate both legacy and modern GEM 300 equipment into semiconductor fabrication, test, and advanced packaging facilities.

By providing seamless communication between the factory host and connected equipment, IIoT sensors, and devices, EAF enables high-volume data acquisition and real-time monitoring to support comprehensive operational analysis and insight.

Leveraging the latest software development approaches and technologies, EAF delivers a high-performance, stable, secure, and customizable framework that helps fabs advance towards full automation and meet smart manufacturing requirements, including cybersecurity, big data, artificial intelligence, analytics, and more.

Worldwide deployment

Developed and supported by PEER Group Dresden, EAF currently powers 15,600 equipment connections at leading fabs around the globe, including front-end, back-end, test, and advanced packaging facilities.

High-volume data acquisition for advanced analytics

EAF laptop mockupAutomated, high-speed, and high-volume data collection is possible for any EAF-connected device via a single, unified channel. Data is shared with clients, such as a factory host or MES, to drive advanced analytics and AI applications for increased productivity, improved yields, and predictive equipment maintenance.

Centralized configuration, deployment, and operation

Configuring and deploying EAF-connected devices is simplified using EAF’s extensible centralized repository and intuitive user interface, which provides a comprehensive overview of the EAF environment for unmatched equipment insight and control across the entire factory.

Key features

SEMI Standards compliant

Supports the most common SEMI E Series Standards, including SECS/GEM and GEM300, to reduce risk, cost, and complexity of equipment connectivity, integration, and automation.

Multitier architecture

Highly configurable communication and integration layers with built-in adaptability across the entire architecture, ensuring maximum component reusability without limiting flexibility.

Rapid equipment integration

Out-of-the-box SEMI Standard compliance and reusable, functionally grouped modules significantly reduce the effort, complexity, and time required for equipment integration.

High transparency monitoring

Visually track the real-time health status of servers and applications using the UI for advanced monitoring of all connected devices.

High scalability

Proven ability to support the productive use of more than 2,000 integrations under a single management server.

High flexibility

Extensible across all component layers, offering abstract classes and interfaces for easy custom code development, support for custom plug-in configurations, and fully adjustable integration behavior tailored to the factory requirements.

High availability

EAF instances can automatically change servers without loss of data or impacting running equipment while strong dependency, change management support and audit trail significantly reduces human error.

Low maintenance

Simplifies ongoing operational maintenance with bulk updates across multiple instances, automated recovery functionality, and strict versioning control.

Centralized management

The EAF Management Server and Client UI provide all required infrastructure to conveniently configure, deploy, operate, manage, update, and monitor thousands of EAF-connected devices from any location.

Part of a complete solution

EAF can be packaged with PEER Group’s Automation Capability Management (ACM) Services and interface test product, DiDaCT 2, to ensure a seamless, low-risk deployment that does not impact production.

For fabs that wish to add EAF integration services to their factory MES, PEER Group collaborates with several MES providers to complement their ANSI/ISA-95 Level 3 functions with our expertise in the Automation Network domain (Level 2 and below) and eliminate the equipment connectivity challenges and limitations of MES platforms.
