SMT-ELS Standards
Flow-oriented processes like surface mount technology (SMT) and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) differ from typical front-end processes, so SEMI is developing a suite of standards for assembly line scenarios. The new SMT Equipment Link Standards (SEMI SMT-ELS) address horizontal communication between equipment on the line and vertical communication between equipment and higher-tier hosts (e.g., a line controller or a factory automation host).
