PEER Group employees recognized as semiconductor industry’s brightest young leaders
Kitchener, Ontario – June 19, 2024
PEER Group®, the largest supplier of innovative factory automation software products for the semiconductor industry, is proud to announce that two employees, Josh Zhou, a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist and Senior Support Specialist, and Mitchell Smith, a Senior Software Developer, have been selected as 2024 SEMICON West 20 Under 30 awards program winners.
Launched in 2022, the SEMICON West 20 Under 30 awards program recognizes the industry’s brightest young leaders from SEMI member companies who exemplify leadership, collaboration, success, and community involvement. This marks the third consecutive year that PEER Group employees have made the list.

“I am honoured to be recognized by the SEMICON West 20 under 30 awards program,” says Zhou. Respected for his mentoring skills and aptitude for designing robust test programs, Zhou is a highly valued member of PEER Group’s QA and customer support teams.
For Zhou, working in an innovative environment with talented colleagues to help ensure PEER Group products are ready for deployment and that customers receive the best support possible, drives his success, stating: “I’m grateful to work amongst legends at PEER Group, leading test automation initiatives and pushing the boundaries of technology in factory automation software.”
Smith shares Zhou’s gratitude for being able to work in the semiconductor industry. The number of smart people working in this industry might be the best kept secret out there,” he says, while adding: “I feel lucky that I get to work with these people regularly and solve interesting problems every day.”

Smith, who joined PEER Group in 2018 and quickly rose through the ranks to Senior Software Developer, has earned a reputation for acquiring and applying new skills which benefit the entire PEER Group development team. While attending SEMICON West 2024, Smith hopes to bolster his industry knowledge and satisfy his appetite for new experiences, saying: “I am excited to see what’s next for the semiconductor industry, and to experience the food San Francisco is renowned for.”
Zhou and Mitchell will attend SEMICON West 2024 where they will accept the award alongside the other recipients.
