Standardizing the Assembly and Test Process

We presented this topic in a webinar on June 22, 2023.

Request to watch this in-depth discussion about how the adoption of increased automation and SEMI® Standards into backend process, such as assembly and test, will impact compliancy requirements, and what tool manufacturers can do to be ready for the factory floor.

Featuring Jason Cicero, Micron Technology’s Senior IT Domain Architect, this discussion provides invaluable insight from the factory perspective on why standards for assembly and test are necessary and how to make sure your tool is compliant for a seamless fab acceptance.

Background

SEMI Standards are widely adopted by the semiconductor industry to facilitate compatibility and interoperability across suppliers and factories. These standards help improve manufacturing productivity, quality, reliability, and security while reducing the cost and risk of integrating new equipment into fabs.

Universally required in the frontend, SEMI Standards are not yet as widespread in backend processes. To keep up with the long-term demand for chips – and fueled by the CHIPS and European Chips Acts – manufacturers continue to make major capital investments into backend processes while seeking ways to increase optimization and throughput. To help enable this, the semiconductor industry is moving towards standardizing backend processes, such as assembly and test, by adopting applicable SEMI Standards.

Watch this recording to learn:
  • Why SEMI Standards are needed for assembly and test
  • How the standardization of assembly and test will impact your equipment design and integration into the fab
  • SECS/GEM and GEM300 basics
  • What a factory spec is and how to understand it to make sure your tool is compliant
  • What tool manufacturers can do today to be ready when standards compliancy is required
  • How OEMs can help guide the adoption of assembly and test standards
